Last night at the beerbistro the 2011 Golden Tap Awards were handed out at an all-Ontario craft beer festival and celebration.  As voted upon by the general public, the following winners received Golden Tap Awards:

  • Best Microbrewery in Ontario: Beau’s All-Natural Brewing Company
  • Best Brewery for Cask-Conditioned Ale in Ontario: Granite Brewery
  • Best Bar for Draught Beer Selection in Ontario: Bar Volo
  • Best Bar for Bottled Beer Selection in Ontario: Bar Volo
  • Best Bar for Cask Ale in Ontario: Bar Volo
  • Best Brewpub or Tied House in Ontario: Granite Brewery
  • Best Regularly-Produced Beer in Ontario: Beau’s Lug-Tread Lagered Ale
  • Best Seasonal or Specialty Beer in Ontario: Black Oak Ten Bitter Years
  • Best Cask Ale in Ontario: Granite Hopping Mad

There were also four Editor’s Circle awards handed out, to recognize special achievements in craft beer outside of the voting categories.  The following winners received Editor’s Circle awards:

  • Editor’s Circle Award: Adam Grant & Monk’s Table
  • Editor’s Circle Award: Ron Keefe & Granite Brewery
  • Editor’s Circle Award: Corks at Longo’s
  • Editor’s Circle Award: Jed Corbeil & Curt Dunlop

As well, the winner of the Golden Tap Award for Best Beer of the Festival went to the Bar Towel 10th Anniversary Belgo-CASScadian Dark Ale, a one-off collaboration beer brewed at Great Lakes by a few dozen Bar Towel members, in honour of the discussion forum’s 10th anniversary.
