The Abbot on the Hill (1276 Yonge St.) have released more details about their Oktoberfest Olympic Fundraiser on Thanksgiving weekend, and have also announced a dinner celebrating the launch of Czechvar on draught.
CZECHVAR DINNER
On Monday, October 6th, the debut of Czechvar on draught in Ontario will be marked with a three-course dinner, including a pint of Czechvar:
Shaved Duck on a bed of arugula
Blueberry Vinaigrette
duck liver dumplings
Zapekane Rezne (a layered pork and cheddar cream sauce)
stuffed tomato in bread crumbs
Palcinka (crepe stuffed with strawberry and chocolate)
sweet cottage cheese
Public dinner seating is at 8 PM, following a media/trade reception. Tickets are $30 – call (416) 920-9074 to reserve.
OKTOBERFEST OLYMPIC FUNDRAISER
As announced previously, The Abbot on the Hill will be holding an Oktoberfest-themed fundraised on Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th to benefit five young ladies from the Women’s Olympic Hockey Team, and one of the Men’s Eight Man Rowing teams.
Both days of the weekend will feature $20 prix fixe brunch and dinner seatings, plus a number of Oktoberfest and other German beers on tap, including Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen (first time in Ontario), Hacker Pschorr Dunkel Weisse, Konig Ludwig Weisse, Warsteiner Premium Vernum and Warsteiner Dunkel.
The brunch menu will include a selection of German-style dishes. The dinners will feature a choice of one of the following:
Traditional Pork Schnitzel
12 oz “on the bone” Veal Schnitzel
Bratwurst Sausage
Rouladen
German Vegetable Salad
Dinners will also include braised cabbage, sauerkraut fritters, and your choice of mashed or potato salad.
