According to a story in today’s Toronto Star, rabble-rouser Derek Forward is moving his battle to break-up the Beer Store monopoly to the next level with an official Beer Store Protest Day this coming Saturday, August 30th.
Here are the details for those who are interested in participating:

Derek Forward is urging sympathizers to spend a few hours collecting signatures for a petition to be presented in the Ontario Legislature next month.
His local MPP, Ted Chudleigh, has agreed to read the petition there in hopes of getting Premier Dalton McGuinty to reconsider his position that The Beer Store isn’t broken and doesn’t need to be fixed.[…] Hard copies of the petition can be downloaded from either of two websites, tedchudleigh.com or nobeerstore.ca, and mailed to Forward at the address provided.
People can collect signatures at a beer store or anywhere they want on Saturday, Forward said. The petition replaces an online version Forward set up last month to test reaction to his idea. He said he has 7,000 signatures so far.

Forward himself will be collecting signatures outside of The Beer Store at 614 Queen St. W. from 12 noon to 3 PM this Saturday.
