Here’s a list of beer tastings & events taking place at LCBO locations throughout the province in July & August. These events provide a good opportunity to discover some beers you haven’t tried yet, or rediscover some old favourites. Admission is free unless otherwise noted, although there may be a nominal charge for samples. Note that paid events require advance registration, and events may be cancelled or postponed, so you should contact your local location to confirm details.

Friday, July 21 | 4:00 – 8:00 pm
GREAT BARBECUE BEERS
Join us in the Events Kitchen to sample two great beers, perfect for your barbecue dinner this weekend. Try Cool Lager, with its golden amber colour, toasted malt aromas and clean finish. Next, try Cameron’s Cream Ale. It has a floral/fruity aroma with a touch of buckwheat honey, is mildly sweet and has a slightly smoky flavour.

HOLSTEN
Indugle in a German beer today. Come in to the Events Kitchen and sample Holsten Maibock and Holsten Festbock. The Maibock is straw yellow in colour, medium- to full-bodied with a sweet, malty mid-palate and pleasant bitter finish. It’s great with some traditional German schnitzel and sauage. The Festbook has a deep amber colour and sweet roasted malt and coffee aromas with a long finish. Try it with stews or some good old baked beans.

STEAM WHISTLE INDIE SPOTLIGHT AT THE LCBO
Want to see a live band on your next visit to the LCBO? Mark the date and make sure you don’t miss “The Suits XL” live in the Events Kitchen. Steam Whistle will be sampling its Pilsner; while Ellen McKinney from Food TV’s Fresh and Wild show will be cooking and singing with beer.

LCBO SUMMERHILL ONTARIO CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL
Join us over three days to sample some great beers from the Ontario Craft Brewers. The following brewers will be in attendance: Amsterdam Brewery, Better Bitters Brewing Company, Black Oak Brewing Company, Brick Brewing Co. Limited, Cameron’s Brewing Company, Cool Beer Brewing, Great Lakes Brewery, Heritage Brewing, King Brewery, Lakes of Muskoka Cottage Brewery, Mill Street Brewery, Niagara’s Best Beer, Skeena Brewing Co., Trafalgar Brewing, Walkerville Brewing, and Wellington Brewery.

NICKEL BROOK
Burlington’s micro brewery invites you to sample their ale in the Events Kitchen today. Unlike most traditional ales, Better Bitters Brewing Co. uses three different malted barleys creating a medium-bodied amberish ale. They then select European hops and yeast, naturally carbonating and aging the beer for almost four weeks. This produces incredibly smooth ale. Try it in the Events Kitchen with portobello Mushrooms in Nickel Brook Ale.

WEST COAST BEER
Join us to sample this tasty beer from the West Coast. Kokanee is pale gold in colour with flowery hop aromas, very light on the palate with a smooth, refreshing finish. It’s a perfect match for salted nuts, chicken wings and ribs with hot sauce.

MILL STREET
Looking to try something new? Sample two beers from an Ontario Craft Brewer today. Mill Street brings you its Coffee Porter and Stock Ale. The Porter is made with coffee beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac’s Coffee, and offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market. The Stock Ale is a golden export-style ale made from only malt and hops – no fillers or adjuncts. There’ll be a cooking demonstration with these beers so you can enjoy them fully.
